When you run a campaign through NBF, donations are made to the National Boosters Foundation — a verified 501(c)(3) — not to your program directly. This is what makes them tax-deductible. As the sponsoring nonprofit, NBF retains legal discretion and control over donated funds, which is an IRS requirement for tax-deductible charitable giving. In practice, NBF directs disbursements to your program in support of your charitable sports activity. Donations cannot be legally earmarked for a single named individual and remain tax-deductible. If your program discontinues before disbursement, NBF will apply the funds to a similar charitable sports purpose. NBF’s administrative fee is 5% of all donations received — your program receives 95 cents of every dollar. This fee applies only to tax-deductible donation campaigns; product fundraisers (Ripped Jerky, Gold Card) carry no NBF fee.
