Performance Starts in the Kitchen

Most nutrition advice for athletes is either too vague (eat more protein!) or too complicated (macro-cycle around your training load with personalized supplementation). NBF nutrition resources sit in the middle — practical, athlete-tested, and built for real high school and youth program schedules.

What You'll Find Here

  • Pre-game and game-day fueling guides by sport
  • Quick post-practice recovery snacks
  • Travel meal strategies for tournaments and away games
  • Parent grocery list templates by season
  • Budget-friendly meal swaps that still hit the macros
  • Hydration plans for hot-weather sports

Topics We Cover

  • Protein: how much, when, and from what
  • Carbohydrate timing around training and games
  • Hydration strategies for endurance and team sports
  • Recovery nutrition windows that actually matter
  • Eating on a budget without sacrificing performance
  • Common myths (and why they keep coming back)
Athletes don't need a PhD in sports science. They need a fridge stocked with the right things and a coach who can explain why.

Nutrition Resources

Next Level Athletes

Fueling is one of the most overlooked pieces of athletic development, and the National Boosters Foundation is committed to connecting our athletes and families with voices we trust. One of our favorites is Next Level Athletes.

Next Level Athletes is a podcast built for aspiring athletes chasing the next stage of their careers — whether that's a college scholarship or a pro contract. It delivers insider tips, expert advice, and real-life stories from elite athletics, covering recruiting strategies, elite nutrition, training regimens, and mental toughness drawn from Division 1 athletes, professionals, and expert coaches.

What makes it a standout for us is the host, Kelsey Poulter — a sports nutrition expert with a background in Exercise Physiology. She's on a mission to help athletes — from high school hopefuls to pros in the MLB — turn food into a performance weapon, and she believes nutrition is wildly underutilized in sports, calling it the "separator" that most athletes are missing. Her approach is refreshingly practical: elite outcomes require elite actions — often the boring, consistent ones no one wants to talk about.

The show blends solo deep-dives on sports nutrition fundamentals, hydration, and game-day fueling with interviews featuring elite athletes and coaches. It's exactly the kind of resource we want in our athletes' corner.

Nutrition is the separator. Most athletes are missing it entirely.
