Tax-deductible campaigns under the parent charity

Donors often give more when a public charity can acknowledge the gift. That charity is Arizona Boosters Foundation, Inc., EIN 39-3080525. National publishes the campaign for teams in any state. Your team does not need its own EIN, and National does not have one either.

The Difference 501(c)(3) Makes

How 501(c)(3) Status Changes Your Sports Fundraising

Tax-deductible status is not just a technicality — it’s a structural advantage that changes the size, frequency, and source of donations your team receives.

Larger Individual Gifts

Donors give more readily to a recognized 501(c)(3) than to an informal group, because the organization is accountable and every gift is documented.

Business Sponsorships Unlock

Businesses across America want to support local youth sports, but their accountants won’t approve a contribution without a 501(c)(3) receipt. NBF’s status opens that door for your team, in every market, in every state.

Repeat Donors Return

Supporters who give to a recognized nonprofit are more likely to give again next season. You build a real community of supporters rather than chasing one-time contributions each year.

Grant Eligibility Opens Up

Community foundations, corporate giving programs, and matching gift programs almost universally require 501(c)(3) status to qualify. Raising under NBF’s umbrella may unlock funding sources you couldn’t access before.

Credibility & Accountability

“Backed by National Boosters Foundation 501(c)(3)” communicates that your fundraiser is legitimate, accountable, and structured. It separates your campaign from informal crowdfunding in the minds of potential donors.

No Separate Nonprofit Needed

Your team doesn’t need its own EIN, attorney, or IRS filing. NBF’s established nonprofit covers your campaign from day one — in every state.

Common Questions

501(c)(3) Sports Fundraising — FAQs

What does 501(c)(3) mean for sports fundraising?

Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code describes tax-exempt charities. When your team fundraises here, donors give to Arizona Boosters Foundation, Inc. and receive a written acknowledgment. Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law, and the deductible amount may be reduced by the value of any goods, services, or benefits received.

Does my team need to form its own 501(c)(3) to benefit?

No. National Boosters Foundation extends our established 501(c)(3) status to your team’s designated fundraising campaign. Your team doesn’t need its own EIN, nonprofit registration, or legal entity. We handle the infrastructure; you handle the fundraising.

Is NBF’s 501(c)(3) valid in every state?

Yes. NBF is organized at the federal level. Our 501(c)(3) designation is valid for campaigns and donors in all 50 states. Whether your team is in Texas, California, Florida, New York, or anywhere else, your donors receive proper documentation.

What sports and program types can use NBF’s 501(c)(3)?

All sports. High school varsity and JV teams, club and travel programs, booster clubs, recreational leagues, and independent athletic organizations. Football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, swimming, lacrosse, golf, tennis, cross country, track, cheer, dance, esports, and more.

Can a business sponsor our team and deduct the gift?

Businesses can contribute to your team’s campaign through NBF, and we provide a written acknowledgment describing any goods, services, or advertising the business receives in return. Whether the payment is deductible as a charitable contribution, deductible only in part, or better treated as a business advertising expense depends on what the business receives — they should consult their own tax advisor. We do not provide tax advice.
